DUO.
Duo is a transformable space saving “cart” that serves as a multifunctional, practical, and mobile product for a small living space. It provides both single use and dual use through a hidden surface. In its static state, next to a sofa, it serves as a side table, while in its mobile state the user is able to roll the cart to the front of the sofa where it can transform into a larger surface. By incorporating a purposeful contrast with marmoleum, our piece communicates an effortless shift from work to relax.

Many aspects of modern day living require a fast paced lifestyle, people tend to gravitate towards larger cities which can provide them with opportunities and career growth. This results in living spaces becoming smaller in commercialized cities. Transformable space saving furniture is now a goal for designers to establish, while also offering sustainable options to these active lifestyles.
OUR PARTNERS.
Boconcept, a Danish ecocentric yet minimalistic furniture company, has proposed Emily Carr Industrial design students with a challenge; to create a mobile multi-purpose cart that serves users who live in small confined spaces effectively, to allow them to perform daily tasks with ease.
&
Using Forbo’s Marmoleum brand as a material component in our design we intend to follow the aesthetics and approaches that Boconcept uses to create a piece of furniture that not only adheres to the guidelines we have been given but to honour the values of Boconcept as well.
